The Microplane® 4-Sided Box Grater was touted by Fine Cooking Magazine as their "Overall Favorite" in their July 2008 issue.

The Microplane® 4-Sided Box Grater features three of the most popular, patented Microplane® grating blades - Fine/Zester, Medium Ribbon and Extra Coarse - along with an additional fourth Slicer blade.

Features:
  • Four-sided grater has extra coarse, fine, medium ribbon, and slicer sides
  • Ergonomic, soft grip handle
  • Easy to clean, fine blade removes for easy access
  • Grating Area: 5.25-in. x 4.25-in.
  • Cover Included

  • We recommend rinsing your grater in warm water immediately after each use. Remove particles stuck in the blade from the back side whenever possible. To remove "stuck on food" from the front, first soak the tool in warm water and then use a cleaning brush and stroke in the same direction as the teeth. Store with cover on when not in use.

I wish I had purchased this sooner. Today I grated 12 oz of cheese in no time flat. I've had Microplane zesters for years but hesitated to spend $35 on a box grater that takes up valuable cabinet space (and based on my poor experience with Mom's old tin box grater in the 70's). What took me so long. DON'T HESITATE...

Least objectionable of all

Lots of choices, none especially good. The search for a new grater has me now looking to design and build one of my own: One that really works well, especially with grater in horizontal position; holding unit with one hand and grating surface vertical is the least practical position in which to grate: One's are ratcheting up and down! Lie unit down and push food across blades away from one's body is much more controlled and easier; place bottom of grater against a vertical surface to brace it, and grate away!
